Katsina State: Unknown Terrorists Butcher Vigilante Leader, Rape Women, Set Homes Ablaze

KATSINA STATE- Mallam Nabanje, the leader of a vigilante group in Danmusa Local Government Area in Katsina State, was killed by armed criminal attackers on Sunday night. The assailants also set Nabanje’s house on fire and sexually assaulted three women during the violent incident.

According to local sources, in addition to killing the vigilante leader, the attackers shot two other individuals. The terrorists actions were reportedly driven by a desire for revenge, as they had earlier accused Nabanje of being responsible for the destruction of their “stronghold”.

A local resident from Danmusa recounted the ordeal, stating that a large group of armed men arrived in the community and made their way to the vigilante commander’s residence. To prevent Nabanje’s escape, the attackers blocked all possible routes and eventually found him hiding under a tree. A gunfight ensued, resulting in Nabanje running out of ammunition and being cornered in a compound where he was brutally killed.

The Katsina Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, noting that the police received the information late due to poor network coverage caused by heavy rain on the day of the attack. Sadiq assured the public that ongoing efforts were being made to apprehend the perpetrators and that the command had extended their condolences to the family of the deceased vigilante leader.

The real identities of these terrorists are yet to be confirmed to find out if they are from Nigeria or not
