Anambra State: Indigines of Osumoghu Community flee over Fear of NAF Airstrike

The Osumoghu community in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State was thrown into utter confusion as rumors of an imminent airstrike by Nigeria Air Force A in the area became thick.

Recall that NAF conducted airstrikes on Tuesday aiming alleged camps of suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their affiliate, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Anambra State

Edward Gabkwet, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Air force in a statement stated the reason for the attacks.

He stated that they received intelligent reports that members of IPOB were allegedly planning an attack in the Anambra community, which caused tension in the area. A source who doesn’t want his name in print said;

“These people are heartless. They don’t even know who their brothers are; that is the main reason no one wants to take chances with them.

“I live here in Awka, but my people who live in the village have all left,” the source said.

However, a lot of people believe that the people who were fleeing because of the impending airstrike by the Nigeria Air force. NAF has been carrying out air offensives in some communities in the Southeastern part of Nigeria, claiming that the operation is meant to flush out members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, whom they tagged ‘terrorists’.
