Sokoto State: Market Trader, Usman Buda, Murdered By Mob over Arab Religion as Police Investigates

The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the death of a butcher, Usman Buda, who was murdered on Sunday following an alleged blasphemous remark against the arab religion. It is believed the police are investigating the incident and intend to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the crime.

According to authorities, the mob responsible for the criminal attack fled the scene, leaving Buda unconscious. He was subsequently rescued and transported to Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital in Sokoto for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead.

Reports indicate that the incident occurred during a disagreement between Buda and another trader at the Sokoto main Abattoir around 8am on Sunday. Sources disclosed that some of Buda’s closest business associates attempted to rescue him from the mob, but were injured in the process. They are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.

Ahmad Rufa’i, the Sokoto State Police Public Relations Officer, provided details on the case, stating, “A distress call was received at about 09.20am that one Usman Buda of Gwandu Local Government Area, a butcher at Sokoto Abattoir, allegedly blasphemed the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and as a result, he was mobbed.”

Observers and well wishers of the world’s most populous Black nation, Nigeria, have been raising alarm on the harm foreign religious ideologies do to African minds, turning Africans to victims of manipulations and exploitations
