Gombe State Policemen Detained in Port Harcourt over Fatal Shooting Incident

Two Gombe State policemen, deployed for a special operation, have been apprehended in Rivers State following a fatal shooting incident at a Port Harcourt bar that resulted in the death of a man, Mr. Peterside, a father of four.

The incident reportedly occurred at a lounge in the Elelenwo Community of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, where Mr. Peterside was spending time with his wife and three children. A sudden outbreak of chaos led the policemen to discharge their firearms, and in the ensuing confusion, Mr. Peterside was hit and later pronounced dead at Save-a-Life Hospital.

The widow of the deceased, Ebikere Peterside, reported the incident to the State Police Command. Grace Iringe-Koko, the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, confirmed the incident. According to her, the implicated policemen are currently detained at the State CID, and the results of the ongoing investigation will be made public in due course.
