Delta State: Igbodo Monarch Unveils Renovated Palace, Commemorates 17th Coronation Anniversary

Obi (Barr) Ikechukwu Nkeobikwu Osedume 1 celebrated his 17th coronation anniversary in grand style, unveiling the remodeled Igbodo Palace in Delta State. At the well-attended event on January 6, 2023, the traditional ruler expressed his satisfaction with the progress made during his reign, highlighting the dedication of the palace project to Igbodo citizens at home and abroad.

He commended the community’s generosity, emphasizing that the initial committee’s efforts, coupled with subsequent contributions, resulted in the successful completion of the project.

Obi Osedume 1, also a legal practitioner, shared the joy and overwhelming support he received from Igbodo indigenes when the idea of renovating the palace was first proposed. The funds raised surpassed expectations, reaching an impressive N14 million in the initial stages.

Reflecting on his seventeen years on the throne, he acknowledged the mixed experiences of leadership, noting the challenges and successes. Despite the ups and downs, he credited the strength and resilience he gained to the unwavering love of his people.

In his appreciation, the monarch recognized key contributors to the palace project, including Hon. Victor Nwokolo and Chief Emma Mbulu, who played pivotal roles in financing specific aspects of the renovation. The monarch also highlighted the positive transformation Igbodo has undergone during his tenure, pointing to the community’s agricultural prowess and the extensive development of tarred roads.

The event drew dignitaries, including the state Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Jerry Ehiwario, who commended the community’s support for the monarch and emphasized their crucial role in the state’s development.
