This initiative, incorporating football legends, community role models, and other notable figures, is geared towards promoting CAF and African football on a broader scale.
These ambassadors, celebrated for their sporting achievements, social impact, and commercial value, will play a pivotal role in various activities such as tournaments, charity initiatives, and social events.
El Hadji Diouf, a two-time CAF Player of the Year, is renowned for his contributions to Senegal’s golden generation in the early 2000s, reaching the final of the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations and the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup.
Asamoah Gyan, having captained Ghana’s Black Stars, boasts an impressive career with seven Africa Cup of Nations appearances and the distinction of being Africa’s top scorer in FIFA World Cup history with six goals.
Ahmed Hassan, a decorated player in African football, secured four Africa Cup of Nations titles with Egypt and holds a notable record for over 170 caps.
Augustine ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha, Nigeria’s iconic midfielder, adds to the illustrious lineup, having clinched the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and an Olympic gold in Atlanta, USA, two years later.
The CAF Ambassadors Program, with its blend of legends and celebrities, aims to expand CAF’s reach, introducing new revenue streams and fostering increased engagement with fans and stakeholders worldwide.
