Plateau State: CAN Alerts the World on Fulani Terrorists Ethnic Cleansing in Nigeria’s Middle Belt

In a notable demonstration against the ongoing genocide caused by Fulani terrorists in Plateau State and various parts of Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) orchestrated a peaceful protest on Monday. The “Plateau Peace Walk,” spearheaded by prominent Christian leaders including the state CAN chairman, Rev Polycarp Lubo, and other religious figures, sought to address the continuous killings that have deeply affected the region.

Adorned in black attire, the protesters commenced their peace walk at the PRTVC Roundabout in Jos, culminating at the Rayfield Government House where they engaged with top government officials, including Governor Caleb Mutfwang.

During the protest, Reverend Stephen Baba Panya, Chairman of the Denominational Leaders Forum in Plateau state and National Vice President of CAN, presented a protest letter to Governor Mutfwang for subsequent delivery to the Federal Government. The letter expressed the dissatisfaction of Christians and the people of Plateau state with the persistent attacks and killings.

Reverend Panya underscored the urgent need for decisive action, citing the Christmas Eve ethnic slaughter that claimed innocent lives. He decried the lack of effective protection by the military and other security forces, emphasizing the injustice faced by victims who were unable to defend themselves against the onslaught on their communities.

In a plea to the Federal Governent, Reverend Panya called for substantial measures to address the situation, urging the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to promptly initiate the official proscription of the armed Fulani terrorist militias responsible for the genocide.

Additionally, he called for the release of individuals questionably arrested while defending their vulnerable communities
