Lagos Attacks: Igbo Leaders Seek Political Solution

LAGOS- Igbo leaders in Lagos convened a meeting with Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Chief Peter Mbah of Enugu State, and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu to address the ongoing tensions between the South East and Lagos State following the 2023 elections. The leaders emphasized the importance of finding a political solution to the current issues.

Prominent figures like Chika Okafor and Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa highlighted the desire for peace and unity among the Igbo community, expressing their commitment to a unified Nigeria. They stressed the need for improved relationships and a calm environment for the Igbo people to work and live.

Governor Uzodimma reassured the attendees that he would hold a meeting with the Lagos State Governo to address the underlying matters. He acknowledged the courage and intelligence of the Igbo people and urged them to adopt innovative approaches to achieve their goals. The governor also emphasized the collaboration among South-East governors in developing the region’s infrastructure and creating opportunities for investment.

The meeting concluded with a plea for tolerance and love among all parties involved. The attendees expressed their optimism that the South-East would overcome its challenges, and plans were announced for a security and economic summit to be organized by the governors and the National Assembly in the near future. Governor Uzodimma reiterated his commitment to resolving the issues and developing the South-East region.
