In the early hours of Friday, tragedy struck in Sarkin Kudu town, Ibbi Local Government Area of Taraba State, as bandits claimed the life of the district head, Ali Hakimi. The assailants, numbering around 10, brazenly entered the district head’s palace at approximately 12:30 am.
According to sources from the area, the criminals forcefully invaded the palace, where they fatally shot Ali Hakimi. Bello Adamu, another source, revealed that the deceased held a significant position as the brother of the chief of Sarkin Kudu chiefdom. Regrettably, the district had been grappling with a series of bandit attacks, leading to the abduction of numerous individuals in recent times.
Following the heinous act, the perpetrators immidiately escaped into the nearby bush, leaving the community in a state of fear and uncertainty. The pervasive anxiety stems from the lack of clarity regarding the bandits’ next target, prompting residents to live in constant fear.
As at presstime, the Police spokesman in the state, SP Usman Abdullahi, was unreachable to comment on the tragedy as his mobile phone switched off
