Oyo State Governor Presents Staff of Office to Aseyin of Iseyin amid Legal Tussle

In a formal ceremony on Thursday, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde officially conferred the Staff of Office upon the newly appointed Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Adeyeri III, known as Ajirotutu I. Despite legal counsel advising against the gesture due to an ongoing legal challenge to the monarch’s selection, Governor Makinde proceeded with the presentation at Iseyin Stadium.

Legal practitioner Abideen Adeniran had emphasized the importance of acknowledging the pending case (suit no: HOI/04/2023) before the Oyo State High Court, underscoring the significance of justice, peace, and good governance.

Governor Makinde, however, asserted his commitment to the development of Iseyin, citing its considerable potential for growth. Emphasizing his priorities, Makinde declared that education and youth empowerment would form the bedrock of Iseyin’s prosperous future.

Addressing the audience, he outlined ongoing initiatives aimed at bolstering education and empowering the youth in the town. Furthermore, Makinde pledged to attract investments to Iseyin, with a particular focus on advancing the agricultural sector.

Highlighting the occasion’s significance, Oba Sefiu Oyebola expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for the support and confidence shown through the presentation of the Staff of Office. The newly appointed Aseyin affirmed his dedication to collaborating with the governor for the overall development of Iseyin.

Oba Oyebola pledged to uphold the town’s heritage, traditions, and values, vowing to work diligently to meet the expectations of the community. He underscored his commitment to fostering peace, unity, and economic development in Iseyin.
