Nasarawa State: Traditional Ruler Investigated Over Sinister Sale of Police Patrol Van

A district head of Fadan-Karshi in Sanga local council of Nasarawa state, Joel Galadima is currently under investigation by the police over the sale of a Toyota Hilux van, used for security patrol in the community.

Trouble began when members of the community noticed the sudden disappearance of the van, which was given by the Gwantu Police area command on request, to checkmate crime.

These enraged the youths who insisted that they must find out why the van went missing. It was later discovered that the district head Galadima took unlawful possession of the van and later sold it off

Further Investigation revealed that just before selling the vehicle, Galadima informed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Gwantu of his intention, it is believed the DPO requested that he “follow the appropriate channel in auctioning the Van”

Despite the PO’s advice, it was gathered that the district head went ahead and sold the van.

When contacted by the police, Galadima admitted taking custody of the security patrol van, stating that he decided to auction it because it was rarely used. He also disclosed that all due process was followed before auctioning the police van.

However, his action is currently being investigated by the commissioner of police with a plea to angry members of the community to remain calm as the matter would be resolved.
