The Isanlu-Isin community in Kwara State joyously marked the third edition of the annual AJÓKOGUN cultural fiesta, a celebration initiated by the youth and subsequently embraced by the elders, chiefs, and the king.
The event aims to preserve the rich traditional heritage of the agrarian Isanlu-Isin community. Speaking at the occasion, Oba Dr. Solomon Olugbenga Oloyede, the Olusin of Isanlu-Isin and chairman of the council of chiefs, emphasized the significance of the AJÓKOGUN fiesta in honoring their forefathers and ensuring the preservation of cultural legacies.
The monarch noted the increasing interest in the festival, with attendees not only from the local community but also from the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Chief Joshua Olabisi Oloyede, the Asiwaju of Isin land in diaspora, expressed his support for the cultural and traditional values by traveling from the UK to attend the celebration. He commended the captivating cultural displays, showcasing the eight IDOLU in Isanlu Isin.
The chairman of the AJÓKOGUN Fiesta 2023 organizing committee, Kayode Olaoye, extended appreciation to the community members for their contributions and recognized the support of the king, chiefs, and elders. In a New Year message, Oba Dr. Olugbenga Oloyede urged the community to collaborate for sustainable development, promote peaceful coexistence, and endorsed government reforms for a resilient economy.
He wished everyone a fulfilling New Year and called for collective efforts in becoming exemplary citizens.
