Ibadan Monarchs Reconcile for Ibadanland Unity

  • The reconciliation move was prompted by a collective desire for unity and progress within Ibadan

In response to persistent calls from fellow high chiefs and influential figures in Ibadanland, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan and former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, has opted to resolve the discord with members of the Olubadan Advisory Council. This reconciliation effort was prompted by a collective desire for unity and progress within Ibadan.

In a symbolic gesture, Ladoja arrived at the Alarere residence of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, at 11:48 a.m. The meeting, attended by various prominent figures, including the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, and other key members of the Advisory Council, aimed at fostering a collaborative approach for the betterment of Ibadanland.

Ladoja’s absence from council meetings had been a point of concern, with fellow high chiefs emphasizing the need to overcome differences for the greater good of the community. The deliberations leading to Ladoja’s participation in the meeting underscored the shared commitment to Ibadan’s progress and development.

Confirming the reconciliation, Mr. Oladele Ogunsola, the media aide to the monarch, stated that the Ibadan monarchs had successfully concluded their meeting at Oba Balogun’s residence. Among the dignitaries present were the Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola Abimbola; the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole; the Osi Balogun, Oba Lateef Adebimpe, and other esteemed members of the Advisory Council.

It is noteworthy that Ladoja’s absence from council meetings had persisted since the installation of the nine high chiefs of Ibadanland as obas. The newly installed Obas had previously maintained a stance against Ladoja’s participation in their gatherings. The recent reconciliation marks a significant step towards fostering unity and collaboration among the leadership in Ibadanland.
