AFCON 2023: Troost-Ekong Wins Best Player Award

Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong emerged as the standout player of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), claiming the prestigious Player of the Tournament award. Troost-Ekong’s influential performance, marked by three crucial goals, propelled Nigeria to a commendable second-place finish in the tournament.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s goalkeeper Ronwen Williams showcased remarkable skill between the posts, earning himself the title of Goalkeeper of the Tournament, contributing significantly to Bafana Bafana’s third-place achievement.

Equatorial Guinea’s Emilo Nsue left a lasting impression with his prolific goal-scoring prowess, securing the Golden Boot award after netting five goals throughout the competition. Additionally, Cote D’Ivoire’s coach, Emerse Fae, was honored as the Coach of the Tournament for his instrumental role in guiding his team to AFCON glory.

The fair play spirit was acknowledged as South Africa clinched the Fair Play Team award, exemplifying sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
