The traditional ruler of Neni in Anaocha local government area of Anambra State, Igwe Damian Ezeani, has issued a formal apology to Governor Chukwuma Soludo after being suspended indefinitely. Governor Soludo took this action following Igwe Ezeani’s conferral of a chieftaincy title on Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, representing Anambra South senatorial zone.
The suspension was prompted by an alleged breach of the Code of Conduct for traditional rulers in Anambra State, which prohibits the conferment of titles on individuals from outside their domain without proper clearance.
Accused of violating established protocols, Igwe Ezeani expressed regret for his actions in a recorded statement. The traditional ruler, who also serves as the chairman of Anambra Central Traditional Rulers Forum, acknowledged the oversight and extended a sincere apology to Governor Soludo.
Notably, he emphasized his commitment to maintaining a positive relationship between the Neni community and the state government, acknowledging the importance of adhering to the appropriate clearance procedures.
In addition to his apology, Igwe Ezeani announced the withdrawal of the chieftaincy title previously bestowed upon Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. This step aims to rectify the breach and mitigate any potential strain on the harmonious relationship between Neni community and the Anambra State government.
