A new traditional ruler has been elected in Abaomege Community, Ebonyi State after a prolonged period of two decades without a monarch. Following the demise of the community’s first traditional ruler, Gabrel Ineke, in 2001, the ensuing years were marked by internal strife and the resultant loss of lives and property.
The recent selection of Eze Livinus Oguta as the new monarch, an entrepreneur chosen through a unanimous decision by community delegates adhering to established traditions, signals a renewed hope for stability.
Eze Oguta, expressing his commitment to the community’s well-being, emphasized his determination to bring about positive transformation. In a post-installation statement to the press, he pledged to prioritize peace and order, vowing to lead and serve the people impartially and selflessly.
His vision for leveraging the agricultural and youth-focused initiatives of prominent community members underscores a dedication to fostering development and enhancing commercial activities within Abaomege.
Former permanent secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Ifeanacho Umoke, lauded the transparent succession process, highlighting the avoidance of detrimental political influences. Encouraging unity among the residents, he stressed the importance of supporting the new king for the collective peace and progress of the community.
