Nasarawa State: 4 Abducted University Students Regain Freedom

The 4 abducted Nasarawa University Students have regained their freedom. ioinews gathered that the students were released by shadowy terrorists and are currently at the Headquarters of the 177 Guards Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Keffi, the Nasarawa state capital.

The students, Rahila Hanya (SLT 100 level), Josephine Gershon (Computer Science 100 level), Rosemary Samuel (Business Administration 100 level) and Goodness Samuel (Geography 100 level), were abducted from their off-campus residence near Angwan Kare after BCG at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday.

the Secretary General of the Nasarawa State Youths Forum for Advocacy, Muhammed Sakilu Muhammed, confirmed the release of the students. In a statement on Thursday made available to news men, Muhammed said an undisclosed ransom was paid for the release of the students.

He said: “We are pleased to inform you that the four students from Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), who were kidnapped have been reportedly released today. This development follows the payment of an undisclosed ransom.

Recall that 3 female and one male students were kidnapped in their off campus resident on 10th of October, 2023, at 10:30pm, in Keffi the Capital of the State. The abduction caused panic and anxiety in the University and its environs. The abductors subsequently demanded a 20-million-naira ransom before the student could be freed.

With the promixity of security forces to the university and the laxity exhibited in pursing the criminals by same governmental agencies, observers are wondering if there is a possible collusion between the present government in power and the sinister criminals
