OPay Leads Nigeria’s Fintech Boom — Top 10 Apps by Downloads in Q3 2025

In Nigeria, the third quarter of 2025 witnessed a sharp surge in adoption of fintech mobile apps, with OPay claiming the top spot with 50 million+ downloads. According to a September 29, 2025 report by Nairametrics, the top 10 fintech apps in Nigeria by downloads in Q3 are:

  1. OPay — 50M+
  2. Kuda — 10M+
  3. Moniepoint — 10M+
  4. PalmPay — 10M+
  5. Okash — 10M+
  6. Palmcredit — 10M+
  7. FairMoney — 10M+
  8. JumiaPay — 5M+
  9. Carbon — 5M+
  10. RenMoney — 1M+

The ranking underscores growing consumer demand for payments, digital banking, and lending services across the country. OPay’s dominance reflects its broad service suite — transfers, airtime top-ups, bill payments and merchant integrations — combined with aggressive marketing and agent network expansion.

PalmPay, ranked fourth, has also been drawing attention: backed by Chinese investors Transsion and NetEase, it reports over 35 million registered users and one million SMEs on its platform.

Meanwhile, Moniepoint continues attracting capital: it raised $110 million in 2024 from major investors including Google, achieving “unicorn” status and aiming to deepen its payments and digital banking footprint.

The Q3 2025 download ranking highlights Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital finance ecosystem: stiff competition among neobanks and lending platforms, increasing financial inclusion, and a shifting consumer preference toward mobile-first financial services.
