Samuel Adesanmi Daramola, a seasoned cyber security expert, has been chosen as the new Olupele of Ipele in Owo East Local Government of Ondo State, following the recent passing of Oba Victor Agaun. Daramola, aged 41 and hailing from the Okeriwo Ruling House like his fellow contenders, emerged victorious after a selection process involving seven candidates.
Garnering support from five out of eight kingmakers, Daramola’s appointment marks a significant transition for the community.
Having completed his education locally, Daramola pursued further studies in the United Kingdom, obtaining certifications in areas such as General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Anti-Money Laundering. His professional journey includes roles in companies such as Power-Bag Nigeria Limited, Emprise Service Limited (UK), and Amazon UK, where he served in various capacities from account management to executive leadership.
Notably, he held the position of CEO at Zardan Foods Limited before assuming his current roles as Director of Operations for Zardan Import and Export Limited in Nigeria and Finance Director at BNC LIMITED, UK.
Throughout the selection process, Daramola and his fellow contenders demonstrated a commitment to maintaining peace and unity within the community, signing an undertaking to prioritize the well-being of Ipele regardless of the outcome. As an individual praised for his expertise in cyber security and anti-money laundering, Daramola’s appointment is met with optimism by many Ipele indigenes. They anticipate his leadership will not only enhance the town’s security measures but also address various social challenges plaguing the community.
In response to the announcement, former Daily Times editor Mr. Dapo Aderinola, a native of Ipele, reflected on the divine aspect of kingship, emphasizing that the selection of a monarch ultimately lies within the realm of divine will.
