Imo State Under Siege: NLC Accuse Uzodimma of Sending Thugs to Attack, Assassinate its President, Ajaero

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has leveled serious allegations against Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State. According to NLC’s Head of Media and Information, Benson Upah, Uzodinma orchestrated a violent attack on the village of NLC President, Joe Ajaero.

The incident, which occurred on November 4th, 2023, involved thugs invading Azalla Owalla in Emekuku, Owerri, the hometown of Ajaero. Upah claimed that the attack was an attempt to assassinate Ajaero, who was believed to be recovering from injuries inflicted by the police and hired thugs during a protest in Owerri on November 1st.

In an official statement released on Sunday, Upah expressed profound concern over Governor Uzodinma’s blatant disregard for human rights and democratic principles. The NLC condemned the governor’s aggression, describing it as an alarming display of power aimed at suppressing and brutalizing the NLC president.

The statement highlighted the governor’s sinister motive, emphasizing that the invasion of Azalla Owalla was carried out under the misguided belief that Ajaero was still present in the community.

In a shocking turn of events, on the morning of November 4th, 2023, Governor Uzodimma once again demonstrated his utter disregard for human rights and democratic principles by invading and attacking the community of Azalla Owalla in Emekuku, Owerri, Imo State, the hometown of NLC President.

“It is evident that the governor’s sinister objective is the assassination of the president of the congress, a motive laid bare by this latest act of aggression on the community. This invasion was carried out under the misguided belief that Comrade Ajaero was still present, recovering from injuries inflicted by the police and hired thugs.” Part of the statement reads.
