Niger State: Governor Umar Bago Laments over Consequences of Terrorists Attacks on Farming Activities

The governor of Niger state Umar Bago, has expressed concern over the consequences of incessant terrorists attacks in the state, that has affected farming activities.

According to the governor, the dastardly activities of the criminals, which include mass killings, abductions, cattle rustling, and illegal mining have left residents at the mercy of the criminals.

In his words, “Niger State is being referred to as the food basket of the country largely due to our largest land mass in the country, which is also suitable for agriculture and being made use by the government and large percentage of the people.

“But the growing security concern meant that our people are constantly at the mercy of terrorists and other criminal elements.”

The menace of terrorists attacks in the state, has posed a serious challenge for most households over the inability to get adequate food supply, due to crippled farming activities.

Several farmlands have been abandoned by farmers over fear of attacks by alleged Arab armed terrorists.
