Katsina State: Suspected Fulani Terrorists Invade Yar Nasarawa Community, Kill Monarch, 6 others

Yar Nasarawa community in Faskari local government area of Katsina State fell victim to terrorists attacks, resulting in the loss of six lives, including that of a traditional ruler. The assailants, equipped and organized, unleashed terror by burning houses, vehicles, and abducting approximately 38 residents, including women and children.

Additionally, the community witnessed numerous injuries, with around 10 individuals sustaining gunshot wounds, while several properties, including eight commercial vehicles and six houses, were engulfed in flames during the onslaught.

Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing ordeal, with one resident narrowly escaping to the bush as the criminals unleashed indiscriminate gunfire and set ablaze vehicles and buildings. The attack, occurring late at night around 11 pm, strategically targeted the community, blocking all entry and exit points to deter any potential support from the military or local security forces.

Despite being located in close proximity to the Army Super Camp in Faskari, established in 2018, the assailants executed their assault with alarming precision, underscoring the vulnerability of the area’s residents amidst ongoing security challenges.

Expressing profound grief and frustration, residents lamented the dire circumstances, highlighting their inability to engage in agricultural activities or access local markets due to the persistent threat posed by terrorists. The gravity of the situation was further underscored by the confirmation of the attack by the State Police Command’s spokesperson, who affirmed the deployment of tactical, operational, and intelligence resources to the scene for investigations and the possible apprehension of the perpetrators.

Despite these efforts, the tragic events serve as a grim reminder of the ongoing security crisis plaguing communities in the region, demanding urgent and concerted action to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of innocent civilians.
