Thanalysis Podcast: Nigerian Stars Kamaru Usman, Giannis Ugo Adetokunbo Discuss “Nigerian Nightmare” Symbolism

Nigerian-American MMA fighter Kamarudeen Usman, also known as the Nigerian Nightmare, has shared the meaning behind his nickname and how it has been associated with top Nigerian athletes.

Speaking on the Thanalysis podcast hosted by Athanasios Ugo Rotimi Antetokounmpo, Usman explained that the nickname symbolizes excellence in Nigerian sports. He mentioned previous athletes who were called the Nigerian Nightmare, such as Christian Okoye in football and Samuel Peter in boxing.

Usman also suggested that if Giannis Ugo Adetokunbo Antetokounmpo hadn’t chosen to represent Greece in basketball, he would be considered the Nigerian Nightmare.
