Nigerian Grammy-award-winning Musician Damini Ogulu popularly known as ‘Burna Boy’ turned down Thierry Henry’s request to choose between Kanu Nwankwo and Jay Jay Okocha.
Burna Boy described picking the best player between Nigerian football legends Kanu Nwankwo and Austin Jay Jay Okocha as treachery.
The ‘Last Last’ crooner who performed at the champions league finals between Manchester City and Inter Milan was put in a tight corner when asked the question by French legend Thierry Henry, alongside Peter Schmeichel, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards.
While in a chat with the football legends after the conclusion of the match, Henry threw this confusing question to Burna.
“I have one for you, Nwankwo Kanu or Okocha?” Henry asked.
Burna was visibly uncomfortable with the question and was reluctant to make his choice.
He responded by saying, “Don’t do this to me, man, don’t do this to me. I can’t do this, I can’t do this. This is like treachery; I can get hanged for this”.
Henry persisted further to get a response from the Grammy singer, and he proceeded to whisper his choice into the ear of the soccer legend.
Considering Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha, who defined the post-1994 era of the Nigerian national team and their respective clubs in Europe, their sheer distinctive ability on the pitch would make it difficult for anyone to choose a better player between the two soccer legends.
While Okocha was known for his football mastery and captivating dribbles, Kanu Nwankwo on the other hand was known for his goal-scoring prowess.
Both players have also been eulogized for their remarkable contribution to the game of football, and have served as role models to quite a number of football players both to those who have retired and those who are currently playing.
