Kate Henshaw, a popular Nigerian actress has wished the labor party presidential candidate Mr. Peter Obi a happy birthday at 62. The Nigeria movie icon shared her wishes of good health and long life on her verified twitter page.
Recall that Peter Obi had earlier declined celebrating his birthday due to the worrisome security situation of the country. However, Obi urged anyone who might want to give him gifts to instead consider their surroundings and show kindness to those who are less fortunate.
The former governor of Anambra State said in a statement posted on his verified Twitter account on Monday that he has always maintained that everyone must now make sacrifices for a better Nigeria, including the leaders and the well-placed, insisting that the state of the country is cause for reflection.
In the words of the former governor:
“I will turn 62 on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, While I am still incredibly grateful to God for His unending mercies, I have decided for more than 20 years that I will not celebrate my birthdays in today’s Nigeria because of the country’s terrible condition. There is much too much insecurity, violence, and killing in the nation. The sacrifices for a better Nigeria must now start from us, the leaders and the well-placed. The state of our nation must give us cause to pause and ponder. There is far too much insecurity, violence, and bloodshed.”
Obi said he would want to celebrate in a Nigeria that works for everyone and that Nigerians can be proud of.
