Edo State: Oba of Benin Suspends Enogie of Uhogua, Appoints Elders Committee

Oba of Benin,  Ewuare II, in response to alleged misconduct and dereliction of duty has taken decisive action within the community of Uhogua, situated in the Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. The Enogie (Duke) of Uhogua, HRH. Osagumwenro Eki Eresoyen, has been suspended by the Monarch.

Consequently, a committee has been appointed by Oba Ewuare II to oversee the administration of the community during this interim period. This measure is in place until the formal appointment of an Odionwere (village head) takes place in due course.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Monarch, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, conveyed in a statement on Thursday that the designated individuals to guide the community include Pa. Omonuwa Moses, the Ozukpogieva (Second most elderly man), supported by esteemed elders such as Ohen-Ovia (Priest) Pa. Festus Omorefe, Pa. Isaac Osayande, Ozukpogieha (third elderly man) Pa. Samuel Imaruagheru, Ozukpogiene (fourth most elderly) men, and Mr. John Ohiegbomwan, the Okaighele of Uhogua.

In urging peace and adherence to Benin customs and tradition, Oba Ewuare II called upon the village elders who sought the Royal father’s intervention to work towards reconciliation and contribute to the overall development of the area in alignment with established customs and tradition
