During a distinguished reception at the Ovie’s Palace in Effurun, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, advocated for the expansion of Osubi Airport to accommodate larger aircraft. The monarch emphasized the need for the federal government’s complete takeover of the airport and the installation of necessary equipment to ensure seamless day and night flights.
In addition to the airport expansion, the traditional ruler urged the government to focus on revitalizing the NPA ports in Warri, Sapele, and Koko. His vision encompassed accommodating larger vessels, relieving congestion in Lagos ports, fostering commerce and industry in the Eastern region, and generating employment opportunities, ultimately restoring the former glory of the Warri province.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating state of infrastructure, the Ovie lamented the poor conditions of the Warri-Effurun-Sapele-Benin and Orerokpe-Eku-Abraka-Agbor roads, considering them an embarrassment to the Niger Delta populace. Specifically, he highlighted the stagnant development of the Effurun-Warri-Sapele road, constructed in the late sixties.
The monarch raised these concerns when representatives of FG visited recently
