The Paramount Ruler of Ikom Local Government Area in Cross River State, Minen Takon Atangba, has expressed a firm commitment to resolving communal crises within his jurisdiction. Following the official presentation of his staff of office by Governor Bassey Edet Otu, the monarch assured that safeguarding lives and property would be a top priority, with a specific focus on eliminating communal tensions during the upcoming planting season.
In outlining his strategic approach to mitigating communal conflicts, Atangba emphasized collaborative efforts with local government authorities and community stakeholders. He proposed a constructive dialogue through round table discussions and town hall meetings, aiming to reach agreements without resorting to armed conflicts.
The monarch also pledged a fair and just resolution by consulting land documents, historical records, and the wisdom of individuals known for their integrity within the communities.
Addressing the diverse groups residing in his domain, including long-standing residents and newcomers, Atangba pledged to foster an atmosphere of peace. Recognizing the harmonious coexistence of different elements in Ikom LGA over the decades, he affirmed his commitment to collaborating with all groups to ensure lasting peace.
Notably, the recognition ceremony also honored two other Paramount Rulers, namely Ophot Agbor Ebani of Akamkpa and Utsu Felix Okudare of Obudu LGA, further strengthening the collective leadership in fostering stability across the state.
