Delta State Monarch, Asagba of Asaba, Passes on at 99

His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Joseph Chike Edozien, the traditional ruler of Asaba, the capital of Delta state, has reportedly passed away. Edozien, who served as the 13th Asagba of Asaba, departed on Wednesday. The Asagba of Asaba had recently commenced activities to mark his 100th birthday anniversary which was to come up soon.

The news of the monarch’s demise spread throughout the streets of Asaba on Wednesday, with residents of the state capital mourning his loss, describing it as a significant blow to the entire Asaba kingdom. While the palace had yet to officially announce the passing of the revered monarch, multiple sources confirmed the sad news to Niger Delta Today.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the Palace Secretary, Chief Patrick Ndili, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
