Former Arsenal legend and ex-England international, Sol Campbell, has emphasized the need for Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, to secure the signature of Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Osimhen has been subject to transfer speculation since the previous summer, with interest from prominent European clubs and even the Middle East. Despite reported interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, Osimhen declined a lucrative offer to join their ranks, opting to stay with Napoli.
His notable contributions last season earned him the top scorer award in Serie A, guiding Napoli to their first league title in 33 years.
Campbell, assessing Arsenal’s current attacking lineup, highlighted a deficiency in having a top-notch striker. Despite the presence of Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus and English forward Eddie Nketiah, both have struggled with inconsistency.
Jesus has grappled with injuries, hampering his consistent availability for the team, while Nketiah has faced challenges finding the back of the net on a regular basis.
In an interview with The Mirror, as reported by Soccernet, Campbell identified the specific strikers he believes could fortify Arsenal’s squad in the upcoming season, underlining the importance of addressing the team’s striking options to enhance their competitiveness.
