ILESA – The Owa-Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup Ajimoko III, officially removed High Chief Busuyi Gbadamosi from his chieftaincy as Oba-Odo of Ilesa, over accusations that he stole two community-owned electricity transformers
According to a palace statement dated 27 September 2025, Gbadamosi failed to comply with multiple ultimatums to return the 300 KVA and 500 KVA units, which were reportedly removed in 2023 from Atakumosa Market (Post Office area).
Community leaders—including market women and youth representatives—testified before a Chieftaincy Disputes Committee that Gbadamosi allegedly took the transformers under cover of night and later offered inducements to conceal the theft. Gbadamosi reportedly admitted selling the 300 KVA unit for ₦120,000, and said the proceeds were used to move the second unit to Ibadan for repairs.
After Gbadamosi failed to comply within initial 30-day and subsequent seven-day deadlines, the monarch decreed that he would “henceforth cease to be referred to as Oba-Odo of Ilesa,” vacate the chieftaincy residence (which will be locked), and be shunned in dealings. Osun State Police confirmed Gbadamosi’s arrest and investigation in relation to the missing transformers.
