Invoke the Death Penalty on Looters of State Treasury, Kidnappers- Oluwo of Iwo

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdurosheed Akanbi, has advocated for stringent measures to combat corruption and kidnapping in Nigeria, suggesting that these crimes should be punishable by death. During a discussion at his palace in Iwo, the monarch emphasized the need for decisive action against these societal ills, asserting that implementing capital punishment would serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.

In his remarks, the Oluwo attributed the prevailing hunger in the country to the actions of politicians and the mismanagement of resources. He highlighted the disparity in the distribution of funds among sub-national governments, particularly in the aftermath of fuel subsidy removal. Expressing concern over the unequal allocation of resources, he urged for greater transparency and accountability in the utilization of federal allocations by governors, senators, representatives, and local government officials.

Drawing attention to the severity of corruption cases, the monarch underscored the disparity in sentencing between minor offenses and high-profile cases of embezzlement. He criticized the leniency shown towards politicians implicated in large-scale corruption, contrasting it with the harsh penalties imposed on individuals convicted of lesser crimes.
