Aviation: Ibom Air to Launch Daily Flight from Lagos to Accra

AKWA IBOM STATE– Ibom Air is set to expand its network beyond the shores of Nigeria with the launch of a new regional service between Lagos and Accra, Ghana. The airline said it has the potential to compete in the African aviation industry. The airline officially announced this yesterday 21st, September, 2023.

The airline which is owned and operated by the Akwa Ibom government, alongside other investors, have been in existence for about 6 years now. It was established during the administration of the immediate past governor Mr. Emmanuel Udom, to compete globally in providing the best aviation experience. They are the only state owned airline in Nigeria.

The new service will commence on 17 October, 2023 and will operate daily between Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos and Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana.

Ibom Air is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Akwa Ibom State Government. The airline’s current fleet includes 5 Bombardier CRJ 900 and 2 Airbus A320s flying to 7 destinations and 9 routes. The airline began commercial operations on the 7th of June 2019. It carried its 2 millionth passenger on 16 December, 2022.
