Nigeria Premier Football League: Rivers United Strengthen Squad With Two New Signings

Nigerian football club Rivers United has completed the signing of former ASEC Mimosas striker Bernard Yao Kouassi and Enugu Rangers’ midfielder, Shedrack Asiegbu.

The arrival of these two players will seek to strengthen the club’s squad ahead of the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

Bernard Yao Kouassi’s arrival will look to add more bite to Rivers United’s attack, while former Enugu Rangers player Shedrack Asiegbu’s addition to the club will strengthen its midfield.

Notably, in the draw for the 2023/24 season of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stages, Rivers United have been drawn in the first preliminary round of the CAFCC and will play the winner of the tie Casa Sports (Senegal) vs Etoile (Burkina Faso) in the second preliminary round.

However, Rivers United won’t play in the first round of the CAF Confederations League because they got to the quarterfinals last season. They will play the winner of the tie between Etoile Flante of Burkina Faso & Ziguinchor of Senegal for a place in the group stage.

First-round fixtures will commence on August 18, 2023.
