Troost-Ekong Receives Akwa Ibom State Honor for Stellar AFCON Performance

William Troost-Ekong, the Super Eagles’ vice-captain, received recognition from Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for his outstanding performance during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Hailing from Akwa Ibom State himself, Troost-Ekong played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s journey to the AFCON 2023 finals, showcasing his prowess as a center-back and contributing three crucial goals to the team’s success.

His exceptional performance earned him the prestigious title of Player of the Tournament, solidifying his status as one of Africa’s top football talents.

In addition to his individual accolades, Troost-Ekong’s contributions were acknowledged by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), as he was named in the Team of the Tournament.
