The tech community in Akwa Ibom State have called on the state government to create a more conducive environment for technological advancement. During the Akwa Ibom Tech Week 2023, held at Ikot Ekpene, President of the Ibom Innovation Network, Hanson Johnson, emphasized the importance of providing essential infrastructures such as power and internet connectivity.
He stressed the need for investment in the technology ecosystem, urging the government and the people to support innovators in keeping up with global technological trends. Johnson highlighted the state’s peaceful atmosphere and affordable living costs as advantages for tech startups.
Hanson Johnson, in his address, urged the Akwa Ibom Government to continue supporting their vision of making the state Africa’s new technology destination. He praised the government’s dedication to providing a secure and conducive atmosphere for technological enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Mr. Raphael Edem, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Brand Management and Marketing, acknowledged the achievements of technology hubs in the state.
He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue and partnership between the tech community and the government for the sector’s development. Edem encouraged mutual collaboration to enhance Akwa Ibom’s position as an emerging technology destination in Africa.
