Taraba State: Governor Kefas Calls for Collaboration with Traditional Monarchs to Fight Insecurity

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has appealed to traditional monarchs to join forces with his administration in tackling the prevailing security issues in the state. Taraba State has been grappling with challenges such as banditry, kidnapping, communal clashes, and farmer-herder conflicts.

To address these concerns, Governor Kefas convened a roundtable discussion with the traditional rulers on Friday in Jalingo, the state capital, where he stressed the importance of this collaboration in curbing illegal mining activities in their respective domains, urging them to take extra steps within the bounds of the law.

Expressing his dismay at the state’s insecurity, Governor Kefas acknowledged the adverse impact of rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, communal clashes, and farmer-herder conflicts on the people, causing immense pain and suffering.

The governor highlighted that the persistent insecurity has cast a shadow over what was once a peaceful state. He stressed the need for unity and concerted efforts, stating that it is the collective responsibility of all to confront these challenges head-on and restore peace and security to the state.

Governor Kefas called for a setting aside of differences and the adoption of dialogue as a means to work together and find lasting solutions. He urged everyone to be actively involved, emphasizing the importance of collaborative action in overcoming the security threats faced by Taraba State.

Governor Agbu Kefas’ call for collaboration with the traditional monarchs reflects the state government’s determination to address the security challenges in Taraba State. By fostering unity and engaging in constructive dialogue, the government aims to restore peace and security, ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
