Senator Jimoh Ibrahim Calls for Traditional Rulers Inclusion in 2024 Budgeting

Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has staunchly defended the inclusion of traditional rulers in the 2024 budget, asserting their integral role within the government framework. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ibrahim emphasized the historical significance of traditional rulers in Nigeria’s federal system and their responsibility in addressing certain societal issues, including security concerns.

He pointed out the impossibility of completely isolating traditional rulers from governmental affairs, citing their indispensable status within society.

Addressing criticisms regarding the allocation of funds, Senator Ibrahim acknowledged the scale of the budget and the challenges posed by its distribution across a population exceeding 200 million Nigerians. He noted the limitations of individual projects against the backdrop of vast national needs, expressing concerns over the adequacy of resources allocated to address pressing developmental issues.

Ibrahim stressed the necessity for collective support towards government initiatives aimed at fostering national progress and urged against unwarranted allegations that could undermine developmental efforts.

Refuting claims made by a fellow lawmaker regarding substantial financial allocations to ranking senators, Senator Ibrahim clarified that neither he nor his constituency received such funds. He stressed the importance of continuity in ongoing projects and affirmed his commitment to ensuring the effective utilization of resources for the betterment of his constituency.

Ibrahim urged Nigerians to refrain from spreading baseless accusations and instead advocate for constructive engagement with government policies geared towards national development.

He highlighted the extensive scope of capital projects outlined in the budget, which aims to address the developmental needs of various constituencies across the country.
