In a recent revelation, Phrank Shaibu, the Public Communications Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar, claimed that the son of the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) had joined the APC Presidential Election Campaign Council. Shaibu, speaking for the Peoples Democratic Party, said the party had felt compelled to alert security agencies and the judiciary due to an alleged plot by the APC to sway the judiciary.
Shaibu also pointed out that Bola Tinubu, despite removing service chiefs, opted to retain the DSS Director General, whose son had been enlisted into his campaign team. This move, Shaibu suggests, raises the possibility of the DSS showing undue leniency towards the APC.
These claims were made by Shaibu during an interview, where he was asked to elaborate on why the PDP had accused the APC of attempts to intimidate the judiciary. This accusation is one of many in a series of exchanges between the two parties, with both sides alleging the other of intimidating the judiciary.
However, with these recent statements by Shaibu about the DSS Director General, it seems the PDP is hinting at potential bias within the DSS towards the APC.
