Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, to immigrant parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale, Arike is of Nigerian descent.
Nneka Ogwumike was named the 2023 WNBA All-Star starter for the second consecutive season. She earned All-Star honors for the eighth time in her WNBA career.
Ogwumike has appeared in 12 of 13 Sparks games this season. She is averaging 19.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and a career high 3.5 assists per game.
Notably, the 10 starters selected for the 2023 WNBA All-Star Game, were chosen by a combination of fan voting (50%), media voting (25%), and player voting (25%).
