Nasarawa University Don Advocates Cultural Studies Integration for National Unity

Dr. Vincent Paul, a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Entrepreneurship Studies at Nasarawa State University Keffi, emphasized the imperative of integrating Cultural Studies into the national Educational Curriculum. Delivering a keynote address at the Eggon Annual Cultural Festival in Nassarawa Eggon, Dr. Paul stressed the potential of cultural understanding to foster unity, peace, and respect for Nigeria’s diverse heritage.

The annual Eggon Cultural Event, known as Galle Day, serves as a platform for Eggon community members, particularly those from the Galle Community in Nasarawa Eggon, to collaboratively address developmental issues. Speaking on the theme “Celebrating Our Culture, Honouring Our Heroes and Building Our Future,” Dr. Vincent Paul urged leaders to recognize and harness the profound influence of the nation’s cultural heritage in shaping society.

Dr. Paul called upon the government to initiate programs dedicated to enhancing the capacity of local communities, institutions, and professional bodies engaged in the preservation of cultural artifacts. He asserted that such efforts are crucial for fostering sustainable unity within the country.

Additionally, he urged the elite, academia, and political class to actively promote innovative ideas that encourage cross-cultural understanding, tolerance, and respect for the diverse citizenry.

Notably, during the event, the Galle Community bestowed a Charity Champion Award upon Miss Kamsi Awforkansi, a dedicated National Youth Corps Member serving at Government Secondary School Nasarawa Eggon.

Hailing from Enugu State, Miss Awforkansi expressed gratitude for the recognition, viewing it as a catalyst to further contribute to the betterment of humanity.
