Chief Ojo Olayinka, the traditional ruler of Elepe in the Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, was fatally wounded by suspected terrorists on his farm. The grim discovery of his lifeless body by community members, after he failed to return home, has sent shockwaves through the region. Condemning the barbaric act, the Kogi State government, represented by Commissioner Kingsley Femi Fanwo, has vowed to pursue justice for the slain monarch.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family and the affected community, the state government emphasizes its unwavering commitment to upholding security and restoring trust in the region’s safety infrastructure. While acknowledging that no measure can fully compensate for the loss of a cherished citizen, the government’s swift response aims to reinforce confidence in its ability to safeguard lives and deter criminal elements.

Urging calm and restraint, the government implores residents of Ogidi and Ijumu Local Government Area not to resort to vigilantism, but rather to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace and order. Emphasizing the importance of community collaboration, citizens are encouraged to provide vital intelligence to security authorities to aid in apprehending perpetrators and preventing future atrocities.
