Kaduna State: Fulani Terrorists Kill Six, Injure many in Zango Kataf

The security situation in Southern Kaduna has become endemic, inspite of calls by indigenes of the area for security agencies to get proactive and intervene . Many families have lost a good number of relatives. The local government has transformed into an abattoir, where humans are slaughtered with impunity, and security operatives turn a blind eye.

The people of Zango Kataf seem to be the worst hit as they have been living in fear for almost 2 decades now owing to the wanton killings and destruction of properties. People have deserted their ancestral lands, running to IDP camps were they now reside like refugees.

Days ago news filtered in that six people were murdered by suspected Fulani terrorists. The acting Secretary to the District Head of the Community, Mr. Samson Markus, confirmed the shocking incident to news men on Wednesday. Mr Markus stated that the terrorists ambushed the village at around 7:pm, opening fire and killing four people in the same compound whilst two were in another family.

According to him, they terrorists killed two innocent children in the heinous attack.

“We were going about our normal businesses when we heard gunshots, we thought it was the military at first until we saw it was the Fulanis who came in from Zango Urban,” Markus alleged

“Before the military arrived, they’ve succeeded in killing six persons, including 2 children.

“The arrival of the military was what scared them, and they took to their hills and left the community.

“It’s unfortunate this kind of sad incident continues to happen in our villages when we thought normalcy had returned.

“We appealed to the government and the military to redouble their efforts and declare war against these terrorists who invade villages and killed innocent people,” Markus added.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to phone calls put across to him.
