Southern Kaduna Gears Up for Inaugural SKFEST: A Celebration of Culture and Economic Growth

The Southern Kaduna Community Development Associations (CDAs) Forum has announced the organization of the inaugural Southern Kaduna Festival (SKFEST), aimed at fostering socio-cultural and economic development in the region.

Collaborating with the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council and the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOKAPU), the CDAs Forum has strategically planned the festival to take place from December 28 to December 30 in Kafanchan.

Farguson Bobai, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, shared during a press briefing on Tuesday that the festival’s overarching theme is “Experience Unity, Celebrate Culture.” Emphasizing the importance of preserving cultural heritage, arts, sports, entertainment, and tourism, Bobai underscored their significant impact on future generations.

Addressing concerns about the erosion of local cultures due to the influence of foreign ideologies and the misunderstood concept of globalization among the youth, Bobai stressed the festival’s role in promoting and showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Southern Kaduna.

The festival aims to involve various stakeholders, including the 57 Community Development Associations (CDAs), Non-Governmental Organizations, youth groups, and relevant players in the cultural sector. Bobai highlighted that the event serves as a platform for CDAs to actively participate and exhibit their unique cultural contributions, aiming to not only highlight cultural opportunities but also explore job prospects in the sector, particularly for the youth.

Bobai further revealed that the festival would adopt a rotational approach, anticipating positive economic impacts for the state. The main attractions during the event will encompass a beauty pageant, traditional wrestling, fashion shows, archery, marathon races, football tournaments, free medical outreach, and art and crafts exhibitions, among other engaging activities.
