Itsekiri Group Seeks FG, Delta’s Intervention in Face-off with Chevron

Itsekiri oil-producing communities in Chevron Nigeria Limited’s operational fields of Dibi, Olero, and Abiteye in Delta State are urging the federal and Delta State Governments to intervene in their dispute with Chevron.

The communities are requesting that Chevron fulfill its promise of providing full employment to local residents who have been working as casual staff since last year. The Niger Delta Itsekiri Oil Producing Communities (NDIOPC) warns that if the governments fail to address the issue, they will take drastic actions that could disrupt Chevron’s operations.

The NDIOPC has presented a five-point demand to Chevron, including the conversion of training program participants to staff, provision of essential services, and salary increments. Despite previous appeals and interventions, Chevron has not met their demands.
