Imo State: Traditional Ruler’s Home Devastated by Fire and Looting

The residence of Ezekiel Nwokedi, the traditional ruler-elect of Okwuru OrsuIhitteukwa in Orsu Local Council, Imo State, has been raided and burned by unidentified gunmen. Nwokedi, also known as Okwuruoha 1 of Ekuru, Orsu, is the CEO of Ekwuru Metals & Agro Allied Limited in Ebonyi State.

He informed journalists that his home was ransacked, and items valued at over N85 million were stolen. Nwokedi has been a vocal critic of harmful activities in the region, including the looting of private and public properties and the torching of houses belonging to individuals supportive of the government.

In addition to his roles as traditional ruler and business leader, Nwokedi is the chair of Odinma Orsu Initiative, an organization aimed at promoting peace, unity, and development within the community. Following the attack, he has called for support to restore the stolen goods and has urged law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute those responsible.

Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Command, is yet to comment on the incident as at the time of this report.
