Imo State Prominent Legal Practitioner, Victor Onwubiko Murdered

A prominent legal practitioner Victor Onwubiko was fatally shot by Unidentified Gunmen on Saturday night along the Okigwe/Uturu road in Imo State. Onwubiko, who resided in Abia State University, Uturu, was returning home when he fell victim to the attack, which occurred between 8pm and 9pm. This incident, occurring amidst a notable kidnapping episode, underscores the ongoing security challenges plaguing the region despite the presence of security forces.

Just weeks prior, on January 29th, gunmen targeted Point of Sale (POS) operators in Imo State, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals. Among the casualties were two policemen who were on duty at Ohii junction along the Owerri – Orlu Road during the assault. Eyewitnesses and social media reports corroborate the severity of the attack, depicting the aftermath of the incident in harrowing detail.

Confirming the incident, the Imo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Henry Okoye, assured the public that authorities are actively addressing the situation.
