Former Arsenal and Nigerian striker Kanu Nwankwo has been appointed as chairman Enyimba football club.
Kanu’s appointment was announced by the newly elected governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, who appointed several other individuals to contribute their expertise and knowledge to drive the development and progress of Abia State.
The former Eagles Striker’s appointment will see him take over from one of the most successful chairmen in the Nigerian football club history, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, who served Enyimba for 24 years, winning a record 9 league trophies and Nigeria’s only African Champion League hardware (twice).
Excitedly, Kanu is coming after “the People’s Elephant” won the 2022/2023 NPFL league last month. As Kanu prepares to take over, he will be reunited with former Ajax and Super Eagles teammate, Finidi George, who led the club to their ninth NPFL title last month in his second season in charge.
Obseervers believe, the star team of Kanu as Chairman and Finidi George as coach, will contribute to the football prowess of the club
