Ebonyi State: Police Commence Investigation Into Kidnap Incident

Following the kidnap of some persons in Ebonyi state which occurred on Tuesday, the police command in the state has revealed that it has commenced investigations.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident but did not disclose how many persons were abducted.

She stated that some people came to the Police Command headquarters to make a about a kidnapping incident, but could not tell the exact location where the alleged crime was committed.

Onovwakpoyeya noted that policemen in the state are on top of the issue to ascertain the actual location.

She said: “We are aware of the incident, but we are not sure of the location. One of the reports says they were kidnapped on the way while returning from Enugu to Ebonyi, and another says they were kidnapped on the farm. But the Police are on it, and the investigation is ongoing.”

Meanwhile, there are speculations that five persons were abducted by gunmen along the Mile 2 axis of the Ishiagu/Okigwe Expressway late Tuesday.

The victims were said to be returning home from Enugu Airport with an airport taxi, a Sienna bus with registration number KWL 941 PD before they were kidnapped at Mile 2 area, Ishiagu, and taken into a nearby bush by unknown gunmen.
