Budapest 2023: World Record Holder, Amusan Set to Defend 100m Hurdle’s Title Today, After Clearance From AIU

Nigeria’s World 100m hurdles Title Holder, Tobi Amusan, will commence her title defense today at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary.

The world champion is reportedly drawn in lane 4, which will see her compete in a heated race. Amusan will be competing against strong oppositions like Jamaican Megan Tapper, Michelle Jenneke, Natalia Christofi, and Ebony Morrison, amongst others.

Amusan’s title defense is coming after she got cleared by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for anti-doping whereabouts charges, after it was discovered that she never violated any of the anti-doping rules.

A relieved Amusan disclosed that she was in shape to defend her title, despite her suspension.

She said after her clearance,

“I am thrilled to put this behind me, and I look forward to defending my title at next week’s World Championships. I generally have been & consistently will be an ally of CLEAN SPORT. To my Five Fingers; God is the greatest & I genuinely appreciate y’all for the support”.

Fans of Amusan have sent their goodwill messages, wishing her success in her title defense today.
